Since I am a citizen of the United States, a lot of people are surprised that I have family that lives in Victoria BC. Not only are they members of my family, but they are actually really close to me. Although we live in different countries, the various methods of communication that we have (email, text messaging, instant messaging, Skype) make it easy to keep in touch with each other and find out what’s new in each other’s lives. I think it’s really special that I get to have such a special relationship with these members of my family.

While it’s great to use technology to keep in touch with them, what’s even better is getting the opportunity to spend time with them in person. Because of this, I decided to take a trip to visit them earlier this year. Just like so much of my communication with them, the Internet made it possible to track down a great deal on my trip. I got to go to Victoria BC for a total of twelve days, and you would probably be surprised at how low my travel expenses were for the entire trip.
